Alvaro Named NEWMAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week

Boston, Mass. - September 13, 2016 - Senior forward Luke Alvaro (Chicopee, Mass.) has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference offices on Monday morning.

Alvaro, a captain and General Studies major at Springfield College, has had a special start to his final season with the Pride, as he helped Springfield to a pair of wins this past week, scoring four goals on five shots on goal. In a 3-0 win over Elms on Wednesday, Alvaro became the first Springfield College men's soccer student-athlete to record a hat trick since 2007, before scoring his team-leading sixth goal of the year in a 4-1 win over Westfield State on Saturday.

This week, the Pride will travel to Anna Maria College on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. match with the Amcats, before returning home to open NEWMAC play on Saturday with a 12 p.m. contest with Wheaton College.
