Springfield, Mass. - March 3, 2019 - In their final home meet of the regular season, the Springfield College men's gymnastics team dropped a 387.900-383.050 decision to visiting Navy on Sunday afternoon.
Stephen Lewis (Baltimore, Md.) again won the all-around for the Pride after producing a 79.250, and had the Pride's top score of four of the six events. Trevor Lamberton (Willow Spring, N.C.) was the runner-up in the all-around after delivering a in a 73.800.
Starting the day off on the floor exercise, Lewis delivered a 13.700 for the second-straight week to lead the Pride, which gave him runner-up honors in the event, while Lamberton added a 13.300. Lewis again had the Pride's best mark on the pommel horse with a 13,200, followed by Jack Vollo's (Rochester, N.Y.) mark of 12.900.
Springfield put together a strong showing on the rings and earned a rotational score of 64.750, with Lewis again finishing as the runner-up in the event with a team-best score of 13.400. Nick Cramer (Lincoln, Neb.) registered a career-high score of 13.050 to aid the Pride's efforts. On the vault, Springfield again had their best team performance with a 66.300, as Lewis notched a 14.100 to take second, and Noah Candocia (Bradenton, Fla.) took fourth with a 13.900.
On the parallel bars, Jannik Haas (San Jose, Calif.)hit for a 13.250 to lead Springfield and finish second on the event, whileChristian Wilkey Jr. (Lowell, Mass.) was credited with a 13.100. Wrapping up the day on the horizontal bar, Haas again had Springfield's best showing with a 13.200, and Lewis chipped in a 12.300 for the hosts.
Next Saturday, Springfield wil travel to Army for a 1 pm meeting.
