Danbury, Conn. - February 20, 2018 - Springfield College's Trevor Lamberton (Willow Springs, N.C.) and Stephen Lewis (Baltimore, Md.) were honored by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) for their efforts in leading the men's gymnastics team to wins over Illinois Chicago and Temple last Sunday.
Lewis claimed his third ECAC Men's Gymnast of the Week award after setting a new career-high score in the all-around, totaling an 80.800. Lewis highlighted his new career all-around by hitting a new career-best scores in both the floor exercise (14.2) and the rings (13.65). He also had the Pride's best showing on the vault with a score of 14.3. To complete the all-around, the Computer Graphics and Design major produced a 13.3 on the pommel horse, a 12.7 on the horizontal bar, and a 12.65 on the parallel bars.
Lamberton continued to excel in his first season at Springfield as he set new career-high marks on both the vault and floor exercise en route to earning ECAC Rookie of the Week honors. Lamberton opened the day with registering a 13.200 on the floor exercise before he later delivered a 13.45 on the vault. The Applied Exercise Science major added a high bar routine for a score of 12.05 to conclude his day.
Springfield will compete again on Saturday when it takes on Army and William & Mary at West Point.
