West Point, N.Y. - February 25, 2017 - Led by impressive performances from freshman Stephen Lewis (Baltimore, Md.) and Chris Graff (Old Bridge, N.J.), the Springfield College men's gymnastics team took third overall in a tri-meet with Army and William and Mary, hosted by Army on Saturday afternoon.
William and Mary won the meet with a team score of 390.200, while took second with a team score of 383.500. Springfield College took third overall as it posted a 380.150 on the afternoon.
The Pride took the top three spots in the all-around competition, as Lewis won outright with a 77.850, while Graff took second with a 77.050. Joshua Dieker (Oviedo, Fla.) rounded out the top three with a 76.200 on the afternoon.
On floor, Lewis took third overall and was the Pride's top finisher as the first-year posted a score of 13.850, while Corey Matthews (Kernerville, N.C.) followed with a 13.500. Senior Nick Jama (Westfield, Mass.) was Springfield's third best, as he scored a 13.450. Additionally, Graff took second overall on the pommel horse, as the junior posted a score of 13.600.
On the rings, Springfield College took the top two spots, as Dieker produced a 13.050 and Lewis followed with a 12.850, sophomore Jannik Haas (San Jose, Calif.) won the parallel bars with an impressive 13.450 on the afternoon.
Lastly, on the horizontal bar, Haas took fifth overall with a 12.950.
Up next, Springfield College will return to Blake Arena on Sunday, March 5 when it will host a tri-meet with Army and Navy at 1 p.m.
