West Point, N.Y. - February 27, 2016 - Led by an impressive performance from senior Jon Zirna (East Amherst, N.Y.), the Springfield College men's gymnastics program split with Army and William and Mary on West Point on Saturday afternoon.
Army posted the meet's top score with a 413.850, while the Pride notched a team score of 399.850 and William and Mary followed with a score of 395.100.
Zirna started the day tying his season-high score of 13.750 in the floor exercise, before finishing first overall on the pommel horse with a score of 15.050, and tying for the top spot on the parallel bars with a score of 13.700.
Sophomore Joshua Dieker (Oviedo, Fla.) posted a second-place finish on the rings with a season-best score of 14.100, while Philip Ordonez (Jacksonville, Fla.) registered a third-place finish with a score of 14.050 on his floor routine.
Junior Nick Jama (Westfield, Mass.) posted a season-best score of 13.750 in the floor exercise, while senior Tucker McClure (San Jose, Calif.) nothced a career-best score of 12.950 on the rings, Additionally, freshman Jannik Haas (San Jose, Calif.) produced a career-best score on the vault, a 14.000.
Up next, Springfield will return to Blake Arena on Sunday, March 6 when it will host Army at 1 p.m.
