Springfield, Mass. - January 29, 2018 - Springfield College's Heath Post (Cheshire, Conn.) was honored as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Basketball Defensive Athlete of the Week following two strong performances for the Pride last week.
Post continued to make an impact all over the court as Springfield pushed its winning streak to seven games, it's longest such stretch of success in 13 years. In two conference wins, Post averaged 13.5 points and 12.0 rebounds to go along with nine assists, two blocks and a steal. A nine-point, eight-rebound, two-block effort from Post helped the Pride coast past WPI on Wednesday before the Environmental Science major turned one of the best games of his young career, producing 18 points and a career-high 16 boards and a career-best seven assists in the Pride's win over Clark on Saturday. For the week, he shot 63% from the floor while averaging 32 minutes of action.
Springfield will look to continue its winning ways when they host Coast Guard at 7:30 on Wednesday evening.
