Springfield, Mass. - November 17, 2017 - Springfield College's Heath Post (Cheshire, Conn.) and Jake Ross (Northampton, Mass.) were recognized for their efforts on the hardwood last week as they garnered New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) weekly accolades. Post was tabbed the NEWMAC Co-Offensive Athlete of the Week, while Ross was selected as the NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Week for the second-straight week.
Post put together a special showing on Tuesday to help Springfield topple a Keene State team that reached the NCAA Sweet 16 a season ago. The Enviormental Science major poured in a game-high 22 points as he connected on 60% of his field goal attempts and over 80% of his free throw attempts to go along with 10 rebounds, three assists, and two steals as the Pride picked up its first win over the Owls since 2013. Through his first two games of the year, Post is averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Earning his second-consecutive defensive player of the week nod, Ross delivered an incredible all-around effort last Tuesday. The sophomore totaled 17 points and 10 defensive rebounds for his second double double of the season to go along with a career-high seven steals and six assists as Springfield held on a for a 73-67 victory. Ross currently leads the NEWMAC in points per game (21.5), rebounds per game (11.5) and steals per game (5.0).
Springfield will return to the courts on Tuesday when it hosts Becker at 7 pm in Blake Arena.
