Springfield, Mass. - November 20, 2017 - Springfield College's Jake Ross (Northampton, Mass.) was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Basketball Co-Defensive Athlete of the Week after an impressive season opener for the Pride.
Ross, who was the NEWMAC Rookie of the Year last year and picked up three NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Honors a season ago, had a dominant first game for Springfield as the Pride cruised past Western New England, 88-70. He shared this week's award with MIT's Bradley Jomard.
The D3hoops.com Preseason All-America selection posted a double double for Springfield with 26 points and 13 rebounds to go along with three assists, three steals, and a pair of blocks in 30 minutes of action as he connected on 11-of-18 shots from the field.
Ross and the Pride will host Keene State at 4:30 on Tuesday afternoon in Blake Arena.
