Springfield, Mass. - December 19, 2016 - After leading the Springfield College men's basketball team to a win over top-ranked Amherst College last week, head coach Charlie Brock was chosen as the HoopDirt.com Division III National Coach of the Week, presented by The Hoop Group.
Brock is now eligible to receive the HoopDirt.com National Coach of the Year Award, presented by the Hoop Group, which will be announced at the conclusion of the 2016-17 college basketball season.
In one of the most impressive victories in all of college basketball this past week, Springfield had a huge 71-70 upset win over previously top ranked Amherst College, as the Pride earned its first win over a top-ranked team in Division III men's basketball program history. Springfield also continued its run of knocking off nationally-ranked opponents, as this marked the fifth-straight season that the Pride bested a team ranked in the top 25. Included in that streak are seven wins over teams ranked in the top 15, four of which were victories over teams who were ranked #1, #2, and two wins over teams ranked #6.
In the midst of his 19th season as the head coach of men's basketball at Springfield College and his 37th season as a head coach overall, Brock owns a career record of 513-442 for a winning percentage of .537. At Springfield, he is 284-214 (.570).
