Springfield, Mass. - February 15, 2017 - The Springfield College men's and women's cross country teams have been recognized for their hard work in the classroom, as they were honored by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) as Division III All-Academic Teams this past week.
To be considered for All-Academic honors, programs must compile a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or higher and compete in at least five different meets with at least five runners representing their schools.
The mens' cross country program posted a grade-point average of 3.55, which among the 173 men's teams that were honored, ranked 20th overall. The Pride also posted the third-best GPA in the New England region, and second best in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC). The women's cross country program also posted a cumulative grade-point average of 3.55, which out of 216 teams recognized, ranked 56th overall, eighth in New England, and third in the NEWMAC.
Additionally, four men and seven women were recognized at the conference level, as they claimed NEWMAC Academic All-Conference honors for earning a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2016 spring semester.
