Jake Ross (Northampton, Mass.) of the men's basketball team has been selected as the Springfield College Athletics Maroon Club Male Student-Athlete of the Week following a pair of outstanding performances for the Pride this past week.
The Recreation Management major averaged 21.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game and added three steals and a pair of blocks. In the Pride's 26-point win over Wheaton on Wednesday, Ross facilitated Springfield's offense with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists as he connected on his 7-of-9 field goal attempts in 30 minutes of action. On Saturday, Ross powered Springfield over MIT, who was ranked No. 6 in the nation and No. 1 in the region, as he delivered 25 points, 10 boards, four assists, three steals, and two blocks while shooting 8-of-16 from the field. The junior recorded two blocks in the final 1:07 of regulation, including producing a block and pulling down the ensuing rebound with 15 seconds to play to help seal the win.
